Exceptional circumstances application

Principals of the home school who seek enrolment outside the categories or quotas in these guidelines must provide a statement outlining the requirement for access to distance education single course provision. Department of Education and Training schools should provide their request for consideration to their School Education Director. Non-government schools should provide their request for consideration to the Director, Secondary Education. The Director should consider if:

  • policies or procedures have been followed
  • the educational and/or welfare needs of the student are able to be met from within the home school
  • there are other ways the home school can provide the subject requested. (E.g through a connected classroom arrangement)
  • the distance education school or centre is the most appropriate option.
